CLINT EVANS and Steve Forbes both hit hat-tricks as Houlihans Birkenhead Sunday League Premier Division side Heygarth FC hit Weaverham Chapels for six without reply in the Cheshire Sunday Cup second round.
Brow FC will join them in the last 16, after a deserved win against Dock. John Harrison and John-Paul Cassidy gave Brow a two goal interval lead but their nerves were tested in the closing minutes, as Lee Hammond pulled one back from the spot. However, Dave Lee made up for an earlier penalty miss to score from the spot with the last kick of the game, giving Brow the 3-1 victory.
Shore Villa had two hat-trick stars of their own in John-Paul Wheadon and Adam Lea; two more from Paul Kellock and one from Tony Powell in the 9-0 thrashing of Alsager. Prenton Dell (Tony Sample, Danny Edwards, Andy Bolton, Kev Duffy, Kev Thompson) went through 5-2 against Boarhound and Queens Park (Ryan Thompson 2, Terry Cotgrave, James Atherton) won 4-0 at Upton Villa. The Tower, with goals from Stewart Speed (2) and Elliot Corridon recorded a fine win at Queens Bredbury 3-1. Euro Wirral (Terry New) went down 5-1 to Bredbury and New Ferry Wirral Hotel (Mikey Jones) went out 3-1 to Pockets.
In the first round of the Tony Smith Cup, Anthony Povall and Karlin Fleckner hit the target for Birkenhead Youth B, as they beat Ellesmere Port Town 2-0 and Churchwood defeated PSV Bushell 1-0 thanks to a Jamie Duggan goal. Shaftesbury Youth B won 4-1 at AFC Claughton in the second round of the Tony Houlihans Memorial Challenge Cup, thanks to Ben Verdin (2), Mark Lawlor and Karl Pinch and in the first round of the Rocky’s Gym Cup, Mark Fitzpatrick (2) and Dan Kerr registered for Millcroft in their 3-1 success over Pollards Inn.
