Shaun Garnett pleased as Tranmere youngsters show more composure

UNPREDICTABLE Tranmere claimed the Youth Alliance Northwest Conference points in a rearranged game at Stockport.

Rovers, still smarting from a 6-1 home drubbing by Walsall the previous weekend, produced a more disciplined performance this time around.

They were a goal up on 19 minutes through Oscar Durnin. And although Stockport levelled seven minutes later, a strike from Cole Stockton on 55 minutes was enough to secure a third successive away victory.

Head of youth Shaun Garnett said: "After a 6-1 win and a 6-1 defeat in our previous two games, it was important for the lads to knuckle down and learn how to defend a one-goal advantage.

“They did that for the final 35 minutes on Saturday against a good Stockport side. They showed a bit more composure and that is encouraging.

“ Now we have to show we can win games at home.”

Tranmere, beaten in their last three games at Raby Vale, play host to Wrexham on Saturday (kick-off 11am).
