MUSTAFA TIRYAKI is growing in confidence with every game he plays up front for Tranmere Rovers FC, team-mate Lucas Akins believes.
The 25-year-old Londoner notched his second and third goals of the season as Rovers lost 4-2 Scunthorpe last weekend.
While Tiryaki is on a learning curve after moving to Prenton Park from nonleague football in the summer, Akins reckons he is quickly becoming a handful for League One defences with his strength and shooting power and has benefited from a run in the side following a groin injury to target man Enoch Showunmi.
Wide midfielder Akins said: “Is it is great for us that Muzzy is growing in confidence. Enoch is a massive player for us when he is fit and Muzzy looks like he can fill that gap.
“The Scunthorpe game should do his confidence the world of good. He knows he can score in this league now.”
Akins added: “Muzzy took each of his two goals at Scunthorpe fantastically well. He’s been buzzing in training and putting chances away like that. We tell him to shoot because he is a a fantastic striker of the ball.
“He also has an instinct in and around the box. He was unlucky not to get a hat-trick at Scunthorpe because the goalkeeper made an excellent save.”
Manager Les Parry says Tiryaki is gradually coming to grips with the role of the central striker in Tranmere’s 4-4-1-1 formation – a big ask for a player who was with Havant and Waterlooville in the Conference South last season.
