Irby sail past Great Float to progress

WIRRAL FA Amateur Cup third round action saw three teams progress into the last eight but two went out to league rivals, as Irby FC sailed past Great Float S&S with a 3-2 victory and Birkenhead Vale beat Cetco Europe 2-0.

On target for Irby were Owen Kelsey with a brace and Scott Nickson with a single and Anthony Anglesey and Tom Harris notched the responses for Float. Two goals from John Pomphrett saw Primrose ride roughshod over Sea Horse with a 2-1 success.

Poulton Royal kept the league banner flying in the Wirral FA Premier Cup third round with a superb 7-3 win over Rock Ferry Social in which Mike Pickles, Tommy Carroll and Byron Roberts all scored doubles and Lee Dermody added a single in a great team display.

The only Premier Division fixture resulted in Windsor taking the points as they grilled Cheshire Cheese in a 3-2 victory, thanks to goals from Dave Luxon, Craig Jones and an own goal.

Liscard Bronze showed plenty of mettle when disposing of AFC Tima 10-2 in the Capitol Cup first round, due to Kyle Birch (3), Daniel Banacali (2), Jack Hammond, Lee Davey, Craig Kay, Sean Mooney and Craig Wilson finding the net. Mike Redgrift bagged a brace in reply for Tima.

Division One saw only one game and that ended in a 2-2 draw between FC Victoria and Stanleys Cask, with Lee Swanick and Ian Norman netting for the Vics.

Grange Moreton missed the chance to close the gap on division Two leaders Dukes FC as they shared the points with AM Plant Hire in a 1-1 draw, as James Rice and Mark Sharrett scored. Leaders Dukes beat Sandbrook (Paul Brookes & John McDermott) 4-2 thanks to a fine treble from Ashley Robinson and a single from Rob Warrington.

The Rakers swept past Shippons FC when winning 2-1, as Danny King rifled a double, with Gary Walker hitting the consolation.
