Southport’s FA Cup dreams are dashed by Barnet

SOUTHPORT’S hopes of extending their run in this season’s FA Cup were dashed at the first round stage on Saturday as Barnet grabbed a dramatic late winner.

After a goalless opening 45 minutes of few real chances, the npower League Two team forged ahead just before the hour mark when Clovis Kamdjo headed home a Mark Byrne cross.

But Liam Watson’s team drew level on 70 minutes when Steve Akrigg nodded a Shaun Whalley centre into the net.

Just when it seemed the tie was set for a replay at Underhill, Charlie Taylor headed in a Sam Deering centre three minutes into added time.
