HOULIHAN’S Birkenhead Sunday League sides Millcroft and Cavendish went head to head in the Wirral Junior Cup third round and it was Cavendish who went through to the last eight.
Two goals from Victor Thurgill, a Martin Wilde chip and a Robby Batty effort, gave Cavendish a 4-0 win.
Also through to the quarter-final stage are FC Ellies. Two goals from Jake Painter and one from Danny Donaghy were enough for a 3-0 success at Sandbrook. Ashville Old Boys (Ryan Pleavin, Danny Donaghy) went out 3-2 to Ravenscroft.
Dava Byrne hit a hat-trick for Upton Villa as they beat Prenton Dell (Aaron West, Kev Thompson) 3-2 in the Tony Houlihan’s Memorial Challenge Cup and Euro Wirral (Joe Keenan, Scott Connolly, Terry New) won 4-1 at Lions FC (Steve Dutton) in round one of the Presidents Cup.
Premier Division action saw Queens Park (Terry Cotgrave 2, Josh Dures, Danny Brookes) stay top, thanks to a 4-2 success over Stirrup Sports & Social.
Dock FC remain level on points at the top with goals from Craig Donaghy, Mike Saunders, Gary Reay, Craig Johnston and a man of the match performance from Billy Newman, in a 4-0 win at The Tower.
Brow had another two goals from Jack Ford and efforts from Phil Hudson and Matty Wood, as they beat Rock Ferry Social (Baird, Stewart) 4-2.
Bidston Hotel (Steve Jones, Craig Skillen, own goal) won 3-1 against Argyll (Chris Tague) and Shore Villa (John Paul Wheadon 2, Adam Lea) edged out Heygarth FC (Lee Yarlett, Steve Forbes) 3-2.
In Division One, FC Fender (Mike Thomas, Daniel Stuart) beat Shaftesbury Youth A 2-0 and Kings Arms (Graham Edge, James Thomas) stayed in the promotion mix, with a 2-1 success at Lancelyn Glenavon (Dean Corris).
In Division Three, NRiley’s FC defeated Stanley Arms 2-1, to move to the top of the table.
