East Villa strengthen their grip at the top of the Liverpool County FA Premier League with victory over Warbreck

EAST Villa strengthened their grip on the top spot in the Liverpool County FA Premier League with a 4-2 home win over struggling Warbreck.

Lee Pegram scored his 10th league goal as his side hit top form. Franny McIntosh with his seventh of the season, Peter Gannon with his third and Steve Kane cancelled out a brace from Danny Flynn.

Old Xaverians slip from second to sixth after a 3-1 defeat at Page Celtic. Joe Feeney opened the scoring with a deft header – his sixth of the campaign – followed by a tragic own goal in the howling wind. Xavs came back in the second half but James Croxton secured the win with solo effort around keeper Callum Routledge with his fifth of the season to give Xavs a consolation.

Croxteth are now second after a tight but vital 3-2 away win at Sacre Coeur FP. They have Dean Astbury to thank for the points as he scored his 11th and 12th as Sacre Coeur gave all they had, leading until five minutes from the end. Paul Carragher got one of the Coeur strikes.

Surprise package are Essemmay are now third after a 3-2 away win at REMYCA United. Ray Putterill scored his fourth of the season and Paul Smith hit his fourth also for REMYCA.

Ford Motors move to 19th and a little away from the relegation pack after a smart 3-1 home win over Red Rum. Coln Lynch with a brace and a single from Matty Dooling were enough to see off a spirited Red Rum side, who scored through James Conley.

Waterloo Dock move up a place to fourth after a 2-1 home win over South Sefton Boro’. Tony Denson with a brace to move to five goals for the season, Demoane with the Sefton strike and now four goals to date.

In Division One Stoneycroft moved four points clear of the chasing pack after a marrow but oh so vital 1-0 win at home over Edge Hill BCOB. A single strike from Paul Carruthers enough to secure all the points in a tight game.
