Lions hit eight to roar past sorry Comecon

IT WAS a good day for the Houlihan’s Birkenhead Sunday League, as three of their sides progressed to the last four of the Wirral Premier Cup.

John Harrison and Phil Hudson scored for Brow FC as they knocked out top Wallasey side Poulton Royal. Queens Park also won away, 2-0 at Woodlands Athletic, while Premier Division Stirrup Sports & Social defeated Wellington FC 2-1.

Birkenhead Youth B won themselves a place in the last four of the Wirral Amateur Cup, thanks to a 4-2 win at Bridewell.

Dock FC got back to winning ways in the Premier Division with a 5-2 success at Heygarth FC. Also back on winning form were Rock Ferry Social in a 5-3 result over Bidston Hotel.

Division One action saw Lanceyn Glenavon draw 4-4 with Upton Villa, while Lions FC completed an 8-3 win over Comecon.

In Division Two, Churchwood demolished FC Ridger 7-1, while AFC Houlihans had the edge in a seven-goal encounter against Farmers Arms Moreton.

AFC Claughton stayed in the Division Three promotion battle thanks to a 2-1 victory at Cavendish FC, while Ashville Old Boys got a 5-2 result at Stanley Arms. Youth Division action saw Ashville Youth beat Shaftesbury Youth 9-0 and Vauxhall Youth beat Shore Villa Youth 5-0.
