PETER CROUCH denied he handled the ball in the build-up to Stoke’s first goal as they ended Tottenham’s long unbeaten run in the Barclays Premier League with a controversial 2-1 win at the Britannia Stadium.
Spurs striker Emmanuel Adebayor was denied an equaliser in the second half when he was ruled offside, after he replied to Matthew Etherington’s first-half double from the penalty spot.
Tottenham could also have had another penalty when Ryan Shawcross cleared off the line with his arm after Crouch looked to have handled the ball before he set up Etherington.
Crouch said: “I didn’t think the ball hit me on the arm but it was totally unintentional if it did.
“It was a massive result and every three ponts in the Premier League is big for us against a team that’s on absolute fire.
“It was a great performance from us and we showed what we’re all about.”
