ANOTHER busy weekend of action for the area’s non-League clubs is promised tomorrow afternoon with all except Southport – who played last night – involved in league clashes.
In the Blue Square Bet North Division, Vauxhall Motors will be bidding drive upwards from the lower reaches of the table when they entertain seventh-placed Worcester City.
The Motormen are parked in 18th place in the table and were without a game on New Year’s Day when their scheduled game at Colwyn Bay was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
Prior to that, they had earned all three points on Boxing Day against the North Wales side with a late 1-0 success at Rivacre Park.
First-placed Chester FC are on their travels in the Evo-Stik League Northern Premier Division when they visit Rushall Olympic who currently sit in eighth place.
Meanwhile, Kevin Lynch’s Marine, who are lying fifth, go to struggling Stocksbridge Park Steels while bottom club Burscough will be aiming for back-to-back wins as they host Ashton United.
In the Evo-Stik League First Division North, Skelmersdale United’s promotion quest has run a little off-track of late so three points from their trip to Trafford would be most welcome indeed.
Elsewhere, there’s a mid-table encounter at Cantilever Park where Warrington Town entertain Durham City, 18th-placed Prescot Cables are at home to high-flying Witton Albion while Cammell Laird, who are presently propping up the table, visit sixth-placed Garforth Town.
Chris O’Brien’s Bootle will be hoping to knock spots off the opposition tomorrow when they visit 18th-placed Stone Dominoes.
The Bucks are leading the rest of the pack in the North West Counties League’s Premier Division.
The manager faces a starting line-up dilemma as everyone has returned to fitness at the Delta Taxis Stadium.
Elsewhere in the division, fourth-placed Runcorn Town will be looking for a maximum haul of points from their trip to bottom club Atherton LR, ninth-placed Runcorn Linnets entertain Bacup Borough, struggling St Helens Town are at Winsford United while AFC Liverpool, who went down 3-0 to Runcorn Linnets on Bank Holiday Monday, will look to bag three vital points at mid-table Colne.
There’s a battle of two teams in trouble in the North West Counties League’s First Division when 14th-placed Formby go to bottom club Leek CSOB.
