JAMES WALLACE insists he has no intention leaving Prenton Park in the middle of Tranmere’s promotion challenge.
The former Everton midfielder’s outstanding form for the League One leaders during the first half of the season made some Rovers fans fearful he would be tempted away by a bigger club during the January transfer window.
But Wallace said: “I couldn’t do that to the club, especially with the faith (manager) Ronnie Moore has shown in me by making me captain. I don’t think I could jump ship halfway through when there are more rewards to reap.
“I’m focused on the task in hand, which is playing every week in League One and progressing as a player. Maybe in the future, I will step up and I’ll have to prove myself as a Championship player, and then who knows?”
The 21-year-old hopes to be back in action by the start of next month after being sidelined by a knee injury in early December.
