Phillips has Bears in trouble

Veteran Ben Phillips claimed three wickets in the opening session of the new LV County Championship season as Somerset reduced Warwickshire to 101 for three at lunch.

The 34-year-old dismissed Tony Frost, Darren Maddy and Jonathan Trott in the Division One game at Taunton as Warwickshire's campaign got off to a shaky start.

Ian Bell cracked an unbeaten half-century to steady the ship, though, reaching lunch on unbeaten on 56, including nine fours.

Phillips first sent down a swinging delivery which saw Frost caught behind by Craig Kieswetter for seven after Somerset had won the toss and opted to field.

Maddy became Phillips' second victim when he was bowled for 17 and Trott followed, lbw for a first-ball duck, as Warwickshire slipped from 66 for one to 66 for three.

Jim Troughton was with Bell in the middle, unbeaten on eight.

There was no play in the first session at the Rose Bowl as Hampshire's match against Worcestershire was delayed due to overnight rain.
