US Open hit by further rain delay

The US Open suffered another delay on Sunday because of overnight rain.

The tournament organisers revealed the third round could not be restarted because of more rain overnight at the Bethpage Black course at Farmingdale, New York.

The third round would not be resumed until 12noon local time (1700 BST), the organisers announced. The United States Golf Association also announced they intended to stage the fourth round later today.

PGA Tour rookie Ricky Barnes held a one-shot halfway lead.
