WIDNES VIKINGS are set to unveil a museum at their Halton Stadium home on Saturday, August 4.
The museum, which will be situated in the East Stand, will be formally opened at 10am by skipper Mark Smith and former captains David and Paul Hulme.
Guests include Widnes Past Players Association, coach Steve McCormack and Kemik the Viking.
The museum will show off a large collection of rugby memorabilia, much of it donated by members of the public, displaying a fine history of Widnes RLFC.
To add depth to the collection the organising Heritage Group have included a section of information on all the local amateur clubs, which will further illustrate the close ties the sport has with the people of the borough
Fans will also have the chance to win a signed Widnes shirt in a raffle. Admission will cost £1, and 50p for unaccompanied children.
Opening times are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays 10am-4pm, plus Sundays, depending on league games.
