WARRINGTON coach James Lowes demanded improvements after admitting his side “scraped” past Bradford last night.
The Wolves came from 24-12 down in the second half to win 32-28 at the Halliwell Jones Stadium and maintain their revival under former Bulls hooker Lowes.
The victory was the club’s fifth in six engage Super League games since Lowes succeeded Paul Cullen and lifted them to fourth in the table.
Lowes said: “It’s always pleasing to get a result but I think once we get it right, we will certainly be a force for the rest of the year.
“I don’t want the lads to stop playing but I want them to smarten up and realise when the right time to play is and the right time not to play is.
“Generally, we have got a few things to work on but we scraped by and got a win today against a decent team. We need to do things a little better but great character and great effort.”
In-form centre Martin Gleeson kept the Wolves in contention with two tries in the first half before six-goal Chris Hicks, with his 13th of the season, Matt King and Louis Anderson touched down after the break.
The Bulls had made a blistering start with Andy Lynch and Chris Nero scoring inside eight minutes but the Wolves consistently found gaps in their defence as they hit back.
Semi Tadulala, Michael Platt and Ben Jeffries also touched down in an open contest, with Paul Deacon adding four goals, but the late sinbinning of David Solomona enabled Warrington to hang on.
