Caldy continue build-up to historic season

CALDY face a home friendly against Stourbridge tomorrow as they build towards their first ever appearance on the National scene at the beginning of next month.

The squad has been training hard for their National Three North League programme. Caldy open at home to Hull Ionians on Septem-ber 1 followed by a trip to Beverley a week later.

Sean Woof is the new Caldy captain and Sam Dickinson will fulfil the roll of vice-captain.

Matt Holt continues as head coach and Simon Mason will be backs coach and will also act as the player development coach.

Caldy have made a number of new signings for the season and expect to announce more in the near future.

Winger Ian Murray has moved from New Brighton and Matt Pennington has returned from Birkenhead Park.

Scrum-half Russ Meadows who was with Orrell and Chester has also signed up and forward newcomers include prop Gavin Woods, at Stockport last season, and hooker Neil Dowridge from Doncaster.

Back-row man Jake Lyon who returned from Waterloo earlier this year stays with the squad.

North One outfit Birkenhead Park also have a home friendly tomorrow with Leigh providing the opposition at the Upper Park.
