LSH relishing final start to the new campaign

LSH launch their 2007-8 season in earnest this Bank Holiday Monday when they take on Leigh in the Lancashire Trophy Final carried over from the end of last season (kick-off 3pm at Tyldesley RUFC).

As well as an early opportunity to bag some silverware it provides a real test for the Moss Laners as they prepare for life in North One and the undoubted challenges that lie ahead.

Director of rugby Paul Woodward is looking forward to the contest on three counts. “Firstly, I have a great affinity with the Leigh club and always relish every contest with them. They will be tough to beat,” he said. “Secondly; it’s a cup final and one which we targeted last season, so you could say we have some unfinished business. Thirdly; it comes at an ideal time for our preparation for the season ahead. We have one or two new lads in the frame and I’m looking forward to seeing them shape up.”

Woodward is expected to rely on the forward formation that served him so well last season although prop Jan Lourens will miss the clash with a knee injury.

The backs however, are likely to have a new look about them with new men Ashley Worsfold, Mark Dickinson and Ben Mousley likely to feature in the line up.
