WATERLOO female stars past and present will be locking horns to help raise money for the Marina Dalglish Appeal on September 1.
Gill Burns (pictured), who was a major player of the Women’s England rugby World Cup victory in 1994, will be one of the main attractions at St Anthony’s Road.
Burns will lead out the Waterloo WomenŠveterans team, who will take on the current ladies’ team on Saturday, September 1 at the club’s Blundell-sands home (kick-off 12noon).
The women’s section has a long heritage of international and lioness players, and a number of the old girls, along with Burns, will be donning their Waterloo shirts once more to take on the current team.
Half of the women’s section’s proceeds from the day will be donated to the Marina Dalglish Appeal, and there will be opportunities throughout the day to enjoy a BBQ and take part in games.
Welsh international and Waterloo women’s captain Jenny Davies said: “It’s great that the old players have agreed to this match.
“Their team is an awe-some line-up ofŠlegendary international players, and everyone is looking forward to a hard but fun game.”
Burns added: “It is an added bonus that half the proceeds from the day will go to the Marina Dalglish Appeal.”
If any local businesses would like to support the day or donate prizes for the raffle please contact Helen on 07702 702293.
WATERLOO coach Chris O’Callaghan, who has been away with the Spanish national team in South America, saw his side defeat Uruguay 18-10 over the weekend.
