Waterloo’s Irish boost

WATERLOO gave their confidence for the new season an enormous boost on Saturday when their new-look squad scored a remarkable one-point victory at Irish team Garryowen.

The home side led 16-0 at one stage, but as Waterloo gradually settled down and went on to win 17-16.

Among the Waterloo players to stand out were veteran Italian winger Nicola Mazzucato and the Argentinian-born prop forward Bruno Pani.

Another foreign star was Pablo Feijo, a scrum half or winger, who accompanied Waterloo coach Chris O’Callaghan on Spain’s recent South American tour, and has finally agreed to move to Blundellsands.
