Rugby Union: Heaton Moor 23, Liverpool Collegiate 12

WITH most of the first XV unavailable, Collegiate travelled to Heaton Moor with a lot of young faces and made a good account of themselves against last season’s Lancashire Plate winners.

The game was a close encounter until the latter stages when Heaton Moor managed to seal the victory, but a lot of positives were to be taken from this performance.

All Collegiate’s points were scored by Ollie Hunt in the form of two tries and a conversion.

Collegiate should be back to full strength for Saturday’s opening league fixture when they face neighbouring Southport.

However on the evidence of the weekend’s action there now could be a few selection dilemmas due to good performances all round.
