Rugby Union: Caldy grab second win

CALDY swept aside Beverley to record their second victory in National Three North.

Ben Macpherson made a sound debut at stand-off for the winners and there was a man of the match performance from Dave Mercer in the back-row.

Mason and Duboulay for Beverley exchanged early kicks before Caldy posted tries by Mercer and Derek Salisbury plus both conversions.

The home side closed the gap with a converted try before Liam Devaney ended an excellent attacking move with the third Caldy touch down with Mason adding the extras.

Another try by Richard Bradshaw plus the goal made it 10-31 early in the second period but Beverley secured a converted try and penalty.

But Pennington rounded off a fine win with two late tries.
