Collegiate were on the wrong side of a 13-17 scoreline at home to Southport and Ormskirk went under 12-22 against visiting Warrington.
Orrell Anvils got off to a winning start 31-22 against Ashton-on-Mersey. In Division One Aspull just made it 17-16 at Wigan but Ruskin Park crashed 12-69 at Burnage.
St Edwards had a good opening in Division Three with a 15-6 win at Moore.
Prenton had to settle for just an Andy Johnson penalty in a 3-28 reverse at Holmes Chapel. Parkonians were outsmarted by visitors Douglas in an 8-25 reverse.
Other scores in the Division included Mossley Hill 15, Eagle 17 and Newton-le-Willows 42, Ellesmere Port 24.In Division Four St Mary’s beat Congleton 18-7 and Port Sunlight beat Helsby 16-13.
