Rugby Union: West Park off the mark

WEST PARK grabbed their first win of the season against Macclesfield in their National Three North campaign.

It was a particularly satisfying result against the Cheshire side mindful that in the equivalent fixture last November, Park had suffered a 30-18 reversal.

Macclesfield got an early lead thanks to a penalty from Ross Winney before Andy Soutar scored wide out after combining well with Hitchmough and Callaghan. Winney recaptured the lead for the home side before Neale Foster touched down wide out. Macclesfield though were quick to respond and went into the interval with a one-point lead after scoring a try close on the break.

A Soutar penalty regained the advantage for the visitors, but Macclesfield went over the line again to retake the lead. But it was Soutar, darting between the posts, who grabbed the win for West Park.
