Rugby Union: Brilliant boot of Swinson sees off Liverpool Collegiate

DESPITE outscoring Southport by two tries to one, Collegiate were edged out due to the excellent boot of Southport full-back Ben Swinson, who slotted four penalties.

In quite a dour, error strewn match neither side seized any advantage and it was close throughout. Collegiate’s tries came from Andy Cowan and Tom Nener with Ollie Hunt securing a penalty kick.

Collegiate 2nd XV started their league campaign, seeing off Parkonians 51-0, with hat-trick hero Luke Baldwin being a main performer.

It was a good weekend for the Colts, with the seniors beating Rossendale 46-3 and juniors battling hard to beat Oldham 17-3.
