WIDNES are looking for an improved showing on Saturday at Aspull in South Lancashire/Cheshire One after defeat in their first two outings.
The Heath Road outfit had high hopes for the season but they fell to Fleetwood in the first round of the Lancashire Trophy and then went down to Wirral in their first league encounter last Saturday.
Sloppy passing, which led to the concession of interception tries, proved costly in the two defeats and coach Lee McDermott is working hard to put matters right.
But he can console himself that it was not a bad display by any means against Wirral in a 30-21 reverse.
Andy McIntosh and Kevin Leadbetter scored tries and Mark Sibson landed a trio of penalties and a conversion.
Meanwhile, Widnes have signed a two-year deal with new sponsors Priority Sites, who are currently developing the Turnstone Business Park at Widnes.
“We are thrilled to have their valuable support which means a lot to us”, said club president Ivor Lewis.
