Rugby Union: Middlesbrough 54, LSH 7

THE reality of life in North One was clearly spelt out to LSH as they suffered a crushing defeat on Teesside.

Although still missing a few regulars, they were comprehensively outplayed and will need to urgently address fitness and availability issues to prevent a quick return to North Two West. Middlesbrough went 17 -0 in front after ten minutes with tries from Dave Richardson and Richard Houghton and a conversion and penalty from Simon Moore. A try from Louis Hardwick gave the home side a 24-0 lead.

With Middlesbrough enjoying dominance in the loose, the scoring continued immediately on the restart, Hardwick running in a second, followed soon after by a penalty try.

LSH then enjoyed their best period bringing their only try from centre Mark Dickinson, combining well with Ashley Worsfold, to run in under the posts. Simon Worsley converted. Two further Middlesbrough scores brought up the fifty mark and rounded off a sorry afternoon.

SEFTON saw off Ormskirk 24-5 in South Lancashire/Cheshire Two League.

David Carr, Tom Fletcher, John Fenton and Neil Best went in and Fenton goaled twice Ormskirk had to settle for an Andy Wilson try.
