Rugby Union: Wirral Grammar recover after loss

WIRRAL GS bounced back after their disappointing performance at Arnold School the previous weekend to get the better of their local rivals Caldy Grange eventually winning 36-5.

Wirral dominated for much of the game with the forwards showing much more grit to win more than their fair share of possession which the home backs relished.

Wirral scored six tries in all with skipper and No.8 Benjamin Marsh getting on the scoresheet as well as stand off Matty Chapman who scampered over for a beauty.

Winger Josh Haywood showed his pace and darted over for another touch-down before centre Craig Dolan and full-back James Annetts increased the lead further. Annetts had a particularly good game returning from injury and made several astute incursions into the three-quarter line.

Caldy got a consolation try in the first half.
