Rugby Union: Wirral set for big test in Isle of Man

WIRRAL cross the Irish Sea to the Isle of Man to take on Vagabonds in South Lancashire/Cheshire One League tomorrow.

Both clubs have started well with two successes in the league each and it promises to be a keenly-contested affair.

Wirral will need to match the Islanders pack if they are to triumph.

James Duckers and Steve Prendergast are named at prop.

Iuan Jones joins Craig Harvey at half-back.

After two reverses Hoylake look to break the ice away to Burnage and it is a similar situation for Anselmians who have Aspull as visitors.

Centre Chris Riley comes into contention for Widnes, who hope to build on last week’s first win at the expense of unbeaten Wilmslow at Heath Road.

Wigan and Ruskin Park meet at the Douglas Valley ground.

Warrington and Wallasey have an interesting Division Two meeting at Bridge Lane.

Both have started well.

Wallasey will be looking for another big contribution from winger Ben Intimati, who grounded four tries last weekend.

Oldershaw with no impression so far on a seven point penalty with which they started the season come up against Southport at Belvidere.

Other games include Ormskirk v Ashton on Mersey, Orrell Anvils v Crewe and Nantwich and a Collegiate v Sefton derby.

James Evans comes in at prop for Sefton with Mark Carruthers and Phil Osbourne taking bench duty with Neil Best.

After some difficult seasons St Edwards have made their mark to date in Division Three and look for more from their promising young side away to Trentham.

Mossley Hill have Ellesmere Port as visitors with away matches for Prenton at Moore and Parkonians at Holmes Chapel.

There are no Division Four fixtures this weekend.
