Rugby Union: Park in top performance

THIS was a best ever away success in North One League for Birkenhead Park.

They were in complete control after Hull missed an early chance to lead with a penalty.

Tony Handley was on target for Park with a 10th-minute kick before Njike Tchakouta gained his first try for the club in a catch and drive from a line-out.

Good work by Handley and Jon Brennand led to Greg Hughes racing away for the next touch-down and further tries followed before the interval via Jon Sewell and Christian Jones. Handley added three of the conversions.

There was no respite for the Hull defence later. Hughes crossed for Birkenhead after a kick through by Handley and then Jones peeled away from a line-out to go in.

Marc Harris then joined the line to race over before more good forward work led to another Jones try. Handley managed one more goal.

It was an excellent all-round display by the Wirral side to register a first success of the season.
