TWO tries in the final five minutes by Stourbridge denied Waterloo even a losing bonus point as they went down 38-19 in National Two.
Waterloo had problems at both the scrum and lineout. Yet their spirit and tenacity meant they kept to within a score until the 75th minute. The visitors opened the scoring with a try from Dan Palmer, the flanker following up a speculative drop goal attempt. Alex Davies converted.
Stourbridge replied with a try from Alistair Bressington, the winger adding his own conversion, and a try for Mark Eastwood, also converted by Bressington.
Two Davies penalties and a drop goal from Jonny Lowdon gave Waterloo a 16-14 advantage.
A penalty from Bressington and try from Alistair Muldowney, converted by Bressington, restored the home side’s lead. Davies made it 24-19 with a third penalty before Chris Rowlands and Rod Petty triesd.
