THIS was a comfortable EDF Energy National Cup first round victory for Caldy against their National Three North League rivals.
The Lions, in fact, made no fewer than 10 changes but Caldy had the game won at the halfway stage up by 28 points.
Caldy managed to add two tries in the second period via Matt Pennington.
Coast made an impact on his return in a changed wing role and touched down twice in the opening period. Ian Murray also went in and Mason was on target with two conversions, two penalties and a drop goal.
Leicester in the second-half gained an interception try via Adam Pegg and further touch downs through Steve Cross and Scott Alfred plus two goals by Anthony Lintern.
Mason was influential at stand-off for the winners. Gavin Woods was prominent at prop and Lyon, Matt Lamming and Sam Dickinson formed a more than useful back-row.
The clubs are due to meet in the League at Leicester in three weeks time and it should be very interesting.
