Rugby Union: Pontefract 7, Chester 51

CHESTER turned on the style for a remarkable EDF Energy Intermediate Cup first round success.

Centre Morne Barnado led the way with four tries and there were for a dominant Chester side via Matt Bebbington, Matt Bellamy, skipper Sean Green and Simon Abiero.

Bebbington reached 22 points for the game with seven conversions and a penalty.

It was an excellent team performance by Chester with hooker Nathan Sandland-Jones and back-row man Bellamy outstanding.

It was all over at half-time when Chester led 31-0 but they refused to slacken the pace.

Pontefract gained a consolation try and goal.
