Rugby Union: Injuries hit LSH hard

LSH returned from Northumberland with more on their minds than the defeat at Morpeth and exit from the EDF National Trophy.

With one win from five the return to North One is proving to be just as tough as everyone expected.

The constant flow of injuries has seen the Moss Lane treatment room have more occupants than the training ground. Among those unfit for the trip to leaders Kendal are Jan Lourens, Phil Battersby, Tommy Jackson, Alan Chadwick and Simon Worsley.

LSH president Ray French said: “We have not been able to field a full strength side yet. We’ve lost two games by a point and they could have gone either way.”

“The spirit and the will to win is still there and I am sure things will fall into place soon.”

French confirmed that the club is still being frustrated by visa and entry requirement issues affecting Brian Makhaza’s arrival from South Africa.
