Rugby Union: Full-strength Sefton aim to hammer Anvils

THE South Lancashire/ Cheshire Two leaders Sefton make wholesale changes for their home clash with Orrell Anvils tomorrow.

Sefton last week paid the penalty for fielding a much changed line-up as they went out of the Senior Vase with their first reverse of the season.

Brian Gardner and Steve Bailey return as props tomorrow and there are five alterations in the back division with Gareth Thomas and Mark Fenton making up the half-back pairing.

Wallasey who are hot on the heels of Sefton, look to maintain their unbeaten run away to Crewe and Nantwich. Goal-kicker Paul Lewis returns at prop while try-scoring winger Ben Intamati is also back.

Oldershaw, still on minus points after starting the season with a penalty, need a good result in the cross river derby at Collegiate. Other games in the division include Ormskirk at Oswestry, Warrington at Dukinfield and Southport at home to Ashton-on-Mersey.

Hoylake and Widnes meet at Melrose Avenue in Division One with both in confident mood after excellent cup wins last Saturday.

Regular front-row trio Simon Alderson, Ben Glover and Nick Preston are back in contention for Widnes.

Widnes have been boosted by the selection of two of their up and coming youngsters for county action. Paul McLindon has been called up by the Lancashire Under-18 squad and Chris Schofield for the U16 squad. Both began playing rugby at Widnes at the age of five and both have overcome serious injury to steadily make their mark in the game.

Meanwhile in Division One tomorrow Wirral go to Ruskin Park looking to steady the ship after two successive defeats. There are tough away games for Anselmians at Sale, Aspull at leaders Wilmslow and Wigan at Burnage.

Parkonians face a cross river Division Three derby against Mossley Hill at Holm Lane with Prenton against Eagle and St Edwards at Ellesmere Port.

Division Four :@ West Park Warriors v Linley, Marple v Merseyside Police , Port Sunlight v St Mary’s, Capenhurst v Congleton.
