Rugby Union: Caldy suffer fourth loss

CALDY produced a disappointing display as they suffered their fourth National Three North League reverse.

The two clubs went into the game level on points but it was improving Darlington MP who held the upper hand to triumph by a surprisingly high margin.

The Wirral club had a poor journey and were not at all switched on in the opening period, which ended 29-0 in favour of the home side.

There was some improvement later but Caldy suffered from poor possession which meant Simon Mason was invariably under pressure at stand-off.

Park, with a lively set of backs, gained four first half tries plus three conversions and a penalty and in the second period achieved one more converted touchdown plus another penalty.

Jake Lyon and Matt Lamming tried hard in the back row for Caldy, who gained a consolation Ian Murray try goaled by Mason in the final quarter.
