Hoylake on the up

IMPROVING Hoylake secured their third successive victory at the weekend in a South Lancs/Cheshire One derby at Anselmians with a 10-8 scoreline.

Now they prepare for another derby on Saturday with Wirral at Melrose Avenue.

Wirral halted a run of defeats, winning 20-10 against Sale.

Winger Ian White scored a hat-trick of tries.

Anselmians have recruited some new players who are now beginning to settle in but it will be a tough ask for them at Burnage on Saturday. Widnes are proving something of a Jekyll and Hyde outfit.

After a poor showing at Hoylake they produced their best display to beat Burnage 23-16 and they now need to maintain the improvement away to Bowdon.

After a narrow reverse at Aspull, Ruskin Park face the hardest weekend fixture at home to leaders Wilmslow. Aspull are at Sale while Wigan, after beating Bowdon 25-0, look to keep their run going against Isle of Man outfit Vagabonds.
