LSH have plenty of reasons to celebrate

LSH outplayed and overpowered fellow North One strugglers Penrith to record their second victory of the campaign.

This was a complete team performance with the Moss Lane side finally translating possession into points.

Dominant in every aspect of the game, LSH were inspired by a magnificent performance from young flanker Jeff Foulkes, a sparkling display from scrum-half Chris McRobert and a hat-trick of tries from skipper Phil Kearns. Prop Lee Nevitt opened the scoring, linking well with impressive centre Mark Dickinson followed by a short-range try from Richie Bailey. Jan Lourens powered over for the third and Kearns notched the fourth. A Wood penalty and a try from Penrith’s Toby Slack made it 26-8 at half time.

LSH stormed away in the second half with a penalty try, a good score from winger Nick Judd after a break from Peter van Loo, two more from number eight Kearns and the best try of the afternoon from the increasingly influential Ashley Worsfold.

Phil Fell pulled one back for the Cumbrians but this, fittingly, on the afternoon of the grand 150 years celebration dinner in the evening, was LSH’s day.
