Liverpool back to winning ways as St Anselm’s add to fine Canada tour with win

AFTER two successive defeats, Liverpool University celebrated a 29-20 win at Wyncote overcoming Worcester.

The Merseysiders got the dream start with a try by winger Matt Williams converted by fly-half Colm Evans.

The visitors replied with a penalty from Laurie Wilkinson. With the interval approaching Liverpool's Nigerian U21 winger Yuki Omenai scampered over for Evans to add the extras.

The home side added a penalty before scrum-half Ben Newman darted over for a try. Full-back Gareth Jones added with another score with Davies converting. Worcester didn't give up and had the last say with a penalty.

St Anselm's College, on the back of a successful tour to Canada with five wins out of five, have had a great start to their season winning 10 games on the trot with the latest victory 12-10 over Manchester GS a real scalp.

They have been playing some great rugby with skipper tight head prop Andrew Stenhouse and Cheshire lock Matthew McKenna in outstanding form.
