Paul’s fine hat-trick

WIRRAL found themselves having to play a EDF Energy game at home to De La Salle at the weekend instead of entertaining Burnage in South Lancashire/Cheshire One.

A mix-up meant the tie had been delayed and had to be played before of the next stage of the competition this Saturday.

Wirral won 24-17 and now have Huddersfield YM as visitors.

Wirral managed three tries through Paul Rawsthorne, Alistair Baker and Dan Harvey, but will not find Huddersfield easy opponents.

Hoylake maintained their excellent run in the league with a hard-earned 6-0 success at Aspull. Stephen Young held the key with a penalty in each half.

Widnes scrapped out an 8-8 draw against Wigan but Ruskin Park fell 55-10 against Vagabonds and Anselmians were left at the foot of the table as they lost 47-17 against visiting Bowdon.

There is a break to league action this week but Hoylake go to Rossendale in the Senior Vase with Widnes entertaining Sale.
