Birkenhead given the RFU’s seal of approval

BIRKENHEAD PARK have gained the RFU Seal of Approval as part of the Sport England Clubmark scheme.

The accreditation is recognition of the on-going development of the club and the timing is excellent with the expansion of the youth section and schools development programme a major priority.

The news will give an extra boost to the official launch of the new floodlights and community room when the Royal Navy take on the Anti-Assassins at the Upper Park next Wednesday at 7.30pm.

After nine successive league and cup wins Park lost 19-15 at Middlesbrough in North One and although they remain third they need to return to winning ways against Darlington at the Upper Park on Saturday if they are not to lose touch with the leaders.

Park will meet Macclesfield, who defeated Caldy in a league and cup double header, in the Cheshire Cup Final scheduled for Easter Saturday. Birkenhead host Cleckheaton in the third round of the Intermediate Cup on December 8.

The Park Wanderers beat Stockport in the Bateman BMW Premiership 14-9. John Moores University host Durham today in the BUSA Championship, kick-off 2pm.
