CHANGES appear to be needed to ensure Caldy do not keep letting their second-half performances overshadow the hard work done in the first which has been the case so often this season.
Caldy last weekend threw away a 16-point lead to lose 23-19 to visitors Macclesfield.
On too many occasions the team have not managed to complete the job and whether it is a case of fitness or game-plan the problem needs to be addressed to ensure survival in what is turning out to be a very tough and competitive league.
Caldy have clearly got the players with the quality to stay in this league but these players need to start grinding out more victories and adapting to the game plan of the opposition as needs must.
The visiting Macclesfield team appeared to be far more motivated with the task and did not seem phased at going in at half-time 16-0 down.
Caldy do not seem to be realising that in this league they cannot rest on their laurels and must finish teams off and take their chances when they come.
The penalty count is still a major issue too as time and time again penalties were conceded when attacking and defending and relieving the pressure for the opposition.
People will undoubtedly point to the weather conditions this week but the fact is that the home team used the conditions far better and Caldy failed to get enough points in the first half to ensure they could stave off the second-half fight-back from the opposition which was always going to come.
Caldy will need to re-group fast and turn their attention to the arrival of Rugby Lions on Saturday for a 2.15pm kick-off while the second team travel away to Macclesfield.
Better news came from Paton Field where the Caldy Lions won 18-7 against Preston Grasshoppers second team following tries by Devaney and Wise.
New signing Rich Broer acquitted himself very well and good performances from kicker Gavin Roberts and captain Matt Green helped to seal the win.
The Caldy Warriors had a well deserved victory at Whitchurch 31-5 with Dave Russell scoring his first try for the team in 20 years.
On Sunday, the Senior Academy did not have a game and the Junior Academy won 25-22 against Sandbach in their Cheshire Cup match.
The under-16s beat Waterloo convincingly and the under-15s had a training session. The Minis were coached by First team squad members and the under-13s stood out on the day in their Cheshire Cup match beating Winnington Park for a comfortable win.
