HOYLAKE turned in one of the best performances of the season to beat South Lancashire/Cheshire One leaders Wilmslow just a week after arguably one of their worst displays.
The East Cheshire side was left shell-shocked as Hoylake who had been whipped 39-6 at Rossendale in the Senior Vase ran out worthy 25-13 winners.
Hoylake are now comfortably placed in the division. Dan Gleeson, Ben Flint and Steve Young ran in tries with Young kicking the remainder of the points.
Wirral disappointed at improving Bowdon and managed a converted try by Alistair Baker in a 15-7 setback.
Matters do not get any better for Anselmians who are already looking like relegation candidates. They have won only once and the latest reverse 52-0 at Wigan leaves them propping up the division.
Ruskin Park were 50-5 losers at Sale and Aspull went under 19-10 at Burnage.
Widnes continue to blow hot and cold. Their brief winning run came to an end 35-22 against Isle of Man visitors Vagabonds who dominated up front.
FIXTURES: Ruskin Park v Hoylake, Aspull v Bowdon, Wirral v Wigan.
