Park appoint Worsley

AFTER a week of heavy discussions and an important EGM, West Park were hoping to provide members with something to celebrate against Darlington MP.

As it turned out they squandered chances and finished up defeated by the narrowest of margins 20-19.

Off the field, on the back of resignations of chief executive/chairman Rob Briers and president John Fletcher, the club has moved swiftly to appoint former prop and longstanding member Malcolm Worsley as chairman with former first team lock forward Liam Fortune as secretary.

Both have a longstanding presence at Red Rocks with Worsley particularly distinctive in his early days as a former Ormskirk GS lad and not an Old Boy of West Park School. “I have been overwhelmed by the promises of help I have received,” Worsley said.

On the field, the club are fourth the bottom. This coming Saturday they go to Bradford and Bingley. With new signing scrum-half Phil Webster from Hoppers, one of several injured.
