CHESTER moved into the fifth round of the EDF Energy Intermediate Cup with this hard-earned victory.
It was a windswept affair at Hare Lane but Chester adapted better and in scoring three tries to nil won deservedly.
Ross White, filling the number eight forward shirt, claimed the man of the match award for Chester but it was a solid, all-round team effort that won the day.
Matt Sheen and John Piggott gained first-half tries. Park got back in contention with a brace of penalties but they missed a third before James Whitelock-Wainwright settled it with try number three from a forward drive.
The Birkenhead Park v Cleckheaton game was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch and will be played on December 22, if the RFU agree.
The Lancashire Cup game between West Park and Vale of Lune also fell victim to a waterlogged pitch.
The Lancashire Plate game between Sefton and Ormskirk was another weather victim.
