NEW BRIGHTON were happy not to have a first team fixture on a wet and wild Saturday.
The Blues are hoping the short break will have done them good and coach Steve Dorrington is confident the side will step out with all guns blazing for their last game of the year against Rochdale in North Two West at Hartsfield this Saturday. It is an important outing for Brighton who must bounce back after their reverse at Broughton Park two weeks ago to stay in touch at the top of the table.
The Blues have certainly turned their fortunes around this season with the gloom and doom well and truly lifted via some excellent results.
Dorrington believes the squad is well equipped to make a real promotion push in the second-half of the season.
Skipper Kati Tuipulotu is available again after suspension and will link up in the back-row with recent signing Loa Topou for the first time against Rochdale. The two Tongans will present a formidable challenge to the opposition.
Meanwhile Colin Jones has had to stand down as second team coach at the club due to work commitments. Ben Lazenby has agreed to take over.
All their junior games also had to be called off due to waterlogging.
