Winnington strip off

WINNINGTON PARK are hoping to boost their Centenary Year Development Fund from a 2008 Nude Calendar.

The calendar was the brainchild of Linda Fogg, chairman of the club’s Centenary Committee who said: “It’s not been done in mid-Cheshire sport before and our 100th season seemed the right time to try.

“Surprisingly, none of the younger players wanted to pose, but I had no problems getting volunteers from among the more mature players.”

Three hundred copies of the calendar are available before Christmas priced £5.

After an open date last weekend, Park are at full-strength for Saturday’s visit to Sandbach in North Two West. Coach Mark Warr said: “We badly need the points at Sandbach and I am confident we shall get them.”

Meanwhile Northwich chairman Sam Naylor has agreed to meet his Witton Albion FC counterpart Mike Worthington for talks about the combined use of a proposed new sports stadium at Moss Farm.

Cheshire County Council have drawn up a blueprint for a 3,000 seater stadium to house the two clubs as part of a £10m development.

Naylor said: “We’re happy to have a closer look at the plan. We want to improve our facilities and this could be the way ahead.”

With only one win all season the Blacks visit the only side they’ve beaten – Tydesley – on Saturday in a game vital to both clubs’ prospects of avoiding relegation.

Northwich have youngsters Sam Jones, Chris Sheppard, Elliott Alston and Will Mitchell in the Cheshire RFU Development squad.
