Chester lose top billing

CHESTER lost top spot in North West Two to Stockport on points difference as they were held to a draw by a rejuvenated Leigh.

The home side enjoyed a bright opening period to build up a 12-0 lead before Chester rallied with a Gareth Martin try converted by Tom Foden ahead of the break.

Chester’s best spell brought a second try through Nathan-Sandland Jones, plus the goal by Foden who also struck a penalty.

But Leigh refused to lie down and their third try ten minutes from the end levelled things out. Luckily for Chester the goal missed the target.

Tom Forshaw (2) and Stephen Lee were the players to cross for the home side with Paul Wilcox converting once.
