Wallasey see off Prenton

PRENTON put in a determined display against higher-rated Wallasey before losing out in this Lees Cheshire Plate quarter-final.

The wet and windy weather was always going to be a factor in the tie.

Wallasey, the trophy holders, took the game by the scruff of the neck with the elements in their favour to lead 19-0 at the break.

Simon Kirby, Ben O’Donnell and Paul Lewis gained tries and Lewis two conversions.

Prenton rallied with two touch downs from forward drives, plus a Gareth Knapman conversion, but Wallasey held on for a semi-final slot as the forwards bore the brunt of the work.

None of the other Merseyside clubs had fixtures during the weekend.
