Park are after a double tonic

WEST PARK have every intention of starting the New Year as they finished the old by completing the double over Rugby Lions – after getting their first against Macclesfield before Christmas.

Head coach Martin Jones said: “We were understandably delighted to beat Macclesfield and we are now in ninth spot just three points below Rugby and that in itself makes Saturday’s game a must win for us.

“There is a real buzz at the club and our new rugby Manager Martin Strett and rugby chairman Ian Worsley are now in place and we hope to give them a good start. “

Confidence levels are high and Park can justifiably travel to the Midlands on Saturday in the knowledge that they managed to get the better of their opposition in September, 24-17.

Selection is expected from almost a full squad. Stand-off Neil Ryan is the only serious doubt with hamstring trouble and there would be no surprise if match-winner Rob Hitchmough starts the game wearing number 10.

There could also be a boost with up and coming winger, 19-year-old Liverpool University student Matt Williams, joining up with his team-mates after his Christmas break in Surrey. Williams has scored five tries in his first two outings.
