Rugby Union: Hoylake edge Wirral

MANY players will find themselves sitting it out again this weekend as the league programme takes another break.

Last week, Hoylake won 19-16 at Wirral in South Lancashire/ Cheshire One. There was just one try apiece, Rob Kurton for Hoylake and Martin Bennett for Wirral, with kicks deciding the tense contest.

Wigan won 13-8 over Vagabonds with Widnes drawing 28-28 against Bowdon.

Aspull fell 30-0 to Sale, Ruskin Park lost 32-5 at Wilmslow and relegation-threatened Anselmianslost 23-10 to Bowdon.

Ormskirk crushed Oldershaw 59-0 in Division Two and promotion chasers Sefton lost 8-0 at Ashton on Mersey.

Warrington saw off Collegiate 31-10 and Orrell Anvils beat Oswestry 15-3.

Prenton won 7-3 at Ellesmere Port in Division Three thanks to a Steve Evans try and a Gareth Knapman goal.

St Edwards lost 18-17 in the top of the table clash with Douglas. Jude Garvey and Peter Stephenson crossed and Tony Evans hit both conversions .

Mossley Hill saw off Newton Le Willows 45-5 but Parkonians had to settle for a Ben Pearson try and a Terry Williams goal in a 7-28 reverse at Eagle.
